For Holocaust Remembrance Day 2026, guided tours of the synagogues of Cuneo, Carmagnola, and Asti, symbols of Piedmont's Jewish history.

On the occasion of Holocaust Remembrance Day, which commemorates the victims of National Socialism and the shoah, established by the Italian Parliament with Law No. 211 of July 20, 2000, the synagogues of Cuneo and Carmagnola will be open to visitors without reservations on Sunday, January 25, 2026, and the synagogue of Asti on Sunday, February 1, 2026. Symbolic buildings of Jewish religion and culture, these synagogues reflect the historical and human experiences of the local communities, tragically affected by Nazi-Fascist persecution.
These synagogues were not damaged or looted during the war, but near Cuneo, in Borgo San Dalmazzo, the Germans established a concentration camp, where the Jews of Cuneo and many Jewish exiles fleeing from southern France were interned.
Worthy of mention in Carmagnola is Ferruccio Valobra, a former Alpine Reserve Captain during the First World War and decorated with the Silver Medal for Military Valor. He joined the clandestine PRI here and, after the armistice, joined the Resistance as a partisan in the 103rd Brigade of the 1st Garibaldi Division. Arrested for informing on someone, he was taken to Turin where he was shot at the Martinetto shooting range.
Last year, twenty Stumbling Stones, designed by German artist Gunter Demnig, were erected in Asti, in front of the last home where deported Jews from Asti lived.
The synagogues of Cuneo and Carmagnola will be open to visitors on Sunday, January 25, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, with guided tours departing at 3:00 PM, 4:00 PM, and 5:00 PM, with entry on a first-come, first-served basis.
The Asti synagogue will be open to visitors on Sunday, February 1, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, with guided tours departing at 3:00 PM, 4:00 PM, and 5:00 PM, with entry on a first-served basis.

Admission to all synagogues is €5 (including a guided tour of Artefacta); free for children under 10.
