An unusual perspective.
With exemplary cases of Jewish fascists who were victims of racial persecution.
Starting with Ettore Ovazza, a Turin banker related to the Agnellis, a Jew and a staunch fascist from 1922 until the end, horribly murdered with his family on Lake Maggiore in 1943. Rise and tragedy amidst deception and self-deception. With a chapter on Turin. The investigation (55 minutes) expands to other similar cases. Up to Jole Foà, the Jewish secretary of the fascist leader Farinacci who died in Auschwitz. The docu-film also features those who, thanks to a recent awakening, were saved. Like the architect Alessandro Rimini, who escaped from the train to Auschwitz in 1944. His daughter, Liliana Rimini, a firsthand witness to the Holocaust, recounts her story. Finally, Margherita Sarfatti, the Jewish intellectual who, according to historians, “invented” the Duce.
The documentary completes the trilogy that began with “The Anti-Fascist Era” (with Giovanni Grasso, Quirinale, and Miguel Gotor, historian) and “Fake Art – The Deception of Fascism” (in collaboration with the ANPI, with Ferruccio De Bortoli and Adachiara Zevi, and the Bruno Zevi Foundation), self-produced, award-winning films screened from north to south.
