Sexual violence as a weapon of war and terrorism continues to be one of the most difficult crimes to recognize, document, and prosecute. The tragic events of October 7, 2023, in Israel are a prime example, a reality often ignored or underestimated internationally.
To explore this topic further, ADEI WIZO is organizing the international online conference “Silenced No More – Sexual Terror Unveiled: The Untold Atrocities of October 7 and Against Hostages in Captivity” on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.
The meeting will build on the report of the Civil Commission on October 7 Crimes by Hamas against Women and Children, which documents the sexual and gender-based violence committed during the October 7, 2023, attacks and the subsequent captivity of hostages in Gaza.
Moderated by Daniela Dawan, a judge at the Court of Cassation and a writer, the conference will be divided into three sessions dedicated to crime documentation, legal aspects, and the theme of collective responsibility.
Speakers will include Baruch Niddam (ZAKA), Cochav Elkayam-Levy, founder of the Civil Commission on October 7 Crimes, Vardit Avidan of World WIZO, Linda Laura Sabbadini, Elisabetta Camussi and Paola Concia.
“When faced with crimes that attack the body and dignity, silence is always an ally of the perpetrators,” says Susanna Sciaky, National President of ADEI WIZO. “Studying and documenting these phenomena is the first step in combating them and building more effective tools for prevention and justice.”
The initiative enjoys the patronage of authoritative Italian and international institutions.
