SHIRIM, SINGING FOR ISRAEL

October 7th is a tragic event that has indelibly marked the people and culture of Israel; so that we do not forget, we wish to share with the public the profound awareness that has stayed with us ever since.
We decided to do this through music—specifically, through the voices of women from the past and present, who use song to tell the stories of life in times gone by and today.
The concert features a succession of those poetic songs that, for some decades now, have formed the soundtrack of Jewish life in Israel and the Diaspora.
The lyrics of great Israeli poets take the form of song across all the diverse ethnic and folk expressions of the Jewish heritage.
Through music, the words of Yehudah Amichai, Rachel, or Leah Goldberg become an intricate mosaic of emotions, collective experiences, and—naturally—moments of joy and suffering.
*Shirim* winds its way through the various stages of life—from the longing for motherhood, childhood, and prayer, to war, suffering, and the eternal sweetness of love.

Introduction: Sarah Kaminski
