Living Memory

On the fiftieth anniversary of the death of Lotta Continua activist Marcello Vitale, the Piero Gobetti Study Center, in collaboration with the Vitale family, is organizing a discussion on the practices of conflict, the archival preservation of testimonies from past political movements, and documentation practices in today’s activism.
What is the relationship between today’s militants and activists and the movements chronicled in the Vitale Archives and the political experiences they left behind? To what extent do today’s movements and the people who live within them feel the need to preserve their own “archival memory”?

We will address these issues during the round table, starting with the interventions of:
