European Day of Jewish Culture 2026

Edition XXVII

On Sunday, September 6, 2026, the twenty-seventh edition of the European Day of Jewish Culture returns throughout Italy. This year’s theme will explore one of Judaism’s core values: LOVE. It will be an opportunity to discover the many facets—from love of neighbor and stranger to love of G-d—of a commandment that is not limited to the individual but has collective implications, tied to the action, responsibility, and very institution of the Jewish people.

Official opening and greetings from the authorities.

The Body as the Origin of Love: A Historical Journey through Hebrew Love Poetry. Inaugural lecture by Sarai Shavit and Sarah Kaminski, dedicated to the development of the concept of love in Hebrew poetry and the role of the body as the origin of poetic language.

Guided tours of Turin’s synagogues and the permanent exhibition of Piedmontese Jewish ritual art.

Guided walk around the houses that were once the city ghetto, no reservation required.

“Midrashim and the Ambivalence of Affections. Love and Lack of Love in Couples”
Ruth Mussi will present some Midrashim, typical tales from the rabbinic tradition, which will then be explored in depth in a conversation with Giuseppe D’Agostino, President of the Turin Center for Psychoanalysis (Italian Psychoanalytic Society).
Introduction by Sarah Randaccio, psychoanalyst.

ADEI Wizo will set up a stall inside the Social Center with Judaica items, Jewish cookbooks, novels, and grain bags. It will be possible to purchase sweets and hallot.

“A Dybbuk for Our Times”
Performance/concert on the theme of the “Dybbuk” and the legendary and fascinating figure of Shloyme An-Sky, with Miriam Camerini.

Wednesday, September 9
5:00 PM – National University Library of Turin, Piazza Carlo Alberto 3
Literary and musical roundtable discussion dedicated to the centenary of Yehuda Amichai, a central figure in modern Hebrew poetry.
