How do the languages, images, and forms of antisemitism evolve over time? And in what ways do anti-Jewish hostilities intertwine with political, cultural, and religious identities?

The special issue of *Giornale di storia contemporanea* titled “Antisemitisms and Borders”—edited by Elena Mazzini—addresses these questions through a historical lens that spans Europe and the Mediterranean, from the 19th to the 21st century. The essays examine various manifestations of antisemitism: from contemporary political debates to the case of the Republic of Turkey; from representations of Judaism within the Catholic world following the Shoah to the shifts in memory and identity within Israeli historiography after October 7, 2023. In doing so, the issue reconstructs the diverse contexts in which anti-Jewish hostility has developed and taken on new forms, providing tools to understand its continuities, discontinuities, and its implications for the present day.

Giovanna D’Amico introduces the event; speakers include Gert Brojka and Alon Helled; moderated by Brunello Mantelli.
