83rd Anniversary of the Armistice of 8 September 1943

On the evening of September 8, 1943, a proclamation read over the radio by Marshal Badoglio, appointed prime minister on July 25, replacing Benito Mussolini, announced the Armistice between Italy and the Allies.
After the announcement of the end of hostilities with the Anglo-Americans, soldiers fled their barracks and began the fight against the German occupation, marking the beginning of the most complex and difficult phase of the war in Italy.
The 83rd anniversary of September 8, 1943, the date of the Armistice and the beginning of the Resistance, will be celebrated at the Monumental Cemetery with a commemoration of those who fell to Nazi-Fascist violence.

Participants will meet directly at the Field of Glory – Recommended entrances: pedestrian Corso Regio Parco 80 – by car Via Varano 39 with parking on the avenue before the open space of the Field of Glory.
9:30 AM – The banners of the City of Turin, the Region, and the Metropolitan City will pay homage to:
The Deportation Memorial, the Memorial of the Former Internees, the Field of Glory (wreath-laying), the Memorial to the Fallen of the Regular Units of the Armed Forces, and the Memorial to the Jews who perished in the extermination camps.
