Readers and bibliophiles in Jewish Italy between the 17th and 20th centuries
Presentation of the book “Am Ha-Sefer. The People of the Book” edited by Dario Disegni and Germano Maifreda. (Edizioni di Storia e Letteratura, 2025)
The initiative is promoted by the Foundation for Jewish Cultural Heritage in Italy together with the National Library of Italian Judaism “Tullia Zevi,” in collaboration with the National Central Library of Rome, and presents the proceedings of the study day held in Rome on November 21, 2023. The publication brings together contributions from numerous scholars and experts in the field and makes the conference presentations and discussions accessible. This publication offers scholars a fundamental research tool and fosters dialogue and a deeper understanding of sources on the topic of Jewish book collecting between the 17th and 20th centuries. It explores the relationship between people, books, and libraries, and provides a rich and detailed picture of the collections held in the country’s major library institutions.
The complete program, including the speakers’ presentations and the poster, is attached.
