The activities and initiatives of the branch's first year were presented, and the results achieved and future plans were analyzed and discussed. Yesterday, Monday, April 13, an Assembly was held by the Turin Section of Left for Israel, Two Peoples, Two States. The activities and initiatives of the Section’s first year were presented, and the results achieved and future plans were analyzed and discussed. The Coordination Committee, which was partially renewed, was also elected.
Mercedes Bresso, former MEP and former President of the Piedmont Region, was elected Coordinator of the Piedmont Section.
The Assembly was preceded by an online meeting with Marco Pierini, member of the National Board of Directors and Head of International Relations, who analyzed the prospects for the upcoming elections in Israel and the local elections in the Palestinian territories. He also detailed the relationships and contacts that Left for Israel, Two Peoples, Two States is maintaining with parties and organizations, particularly the opposition in Israel, as well as with Palestinian figures and groups, peace organizations, and European figures and parties. He then answered questions from the audience, focusing primarily on Israeli politics.
The need to keep every opportunity for dialogue open was reiterated several times throughout the evening. The newly elected Coordinator, drawing on her experience in the European Parliament, emphasized the importance of anyone opposed to the policies of the current Israeli government not to isolate them, but rather to support the opposition, which represents the only realistic possibility for change.
