A greeting from the new UCEI Councilor for Turin.

The first day of Chanukah was marred by the terrible anti-Semitic massacre in Sydney.
That same evening, the Community Council elected me to represent the UCEI (Union of Italian Jewish Communities) Council. I understand the demanding task that awaits me and I am deeply honored. I will have much to learn from Giulio Disegni, who preceded me and left an important legacy.
I believe that, as Jews of the diaspora, we must be united in combating anti-Semitism, which is constantly growing and increasingly pervasive in our daily lives. The fight against anti-Semitism must be an absolute priority.
Regarding the UCEI, I fully identify with the program of the Roman HaBait list, particularly in its desire to build a strong, vibrant, and united Italian Jewish community in diversity, the foundation of a pluralistic Judaism, capable of listening to all voices and facing the challenges of the present with courage, respect, and vision.
In particular, I believe our future can only depend on young people, who are facing significant challenges both in high schools and universities. Action is needed on the cultural, educational, and legal levels.
I believe it is important to promote youth leadership and Jewish movements, as well as leadership opportunities, international mobility, and exchanges with Israel and Europe. It is important, especially after October 7th, to have spaces for gathering and support, even for those who have left the Jewish movements.
I will make my expertise available to the UCEI to support the initiatives of Italian Jewish communities, with particular attention to small and medium-sized communities and young people, who represent our future.
I am naturally available to gather requests and suggestions to bring to the UCEI.
In general, I am committed to working wherever my contribution can be most useful, effective, and meaningful, with a spirit of service and responsibility.

Sara Levi Sacerdotti

SARA LEVI SACERDOTTI
She has been active in Italian Judaism for many years. She attended the Hashomer Hatzair youth movement and was a student at the Jewish School of Turin; she is the mother of Lea, who is currently enrolled at the Jewish School.
Throughout her journey of community engagement—from her experience as President of Piemonte Ebraico Onlus (PEO) to her role as Councilor for Culture of the Jewish Community of Turin—she has always worked to make Jewish culture and identity accessible, vibrant, and engaging. She also contributes, occasionally, with articles and reflections to Pagine Ebraiche, in support of serious, competent, and responsible communication.
She has also gained significant experience in the institutional sphere, having held elected public offices for several years as a councilor and subsequently as Vice President of the District 1 of the City of Turin.

[103

post-9181","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-articles
["GET
