On the occasion of Archivissima 2026, dedicated to the theme “What Isn’t There,”<\/em> the 1563 Foundation presented “The Broken Book,” <\/em>a volume that collects and publishes two previously unpublished writings by Mila Momigliano<\/strong>: a diary and a story that provide a glimpse into the life of Turin’s Jewish community during the war and the Resistance.
\nMila’s writings reveal bonds of friendship, family relationships, and growth paths marked by racial discrimination and the Resistance experience. Alongside the historical dimension, the writings also revealed the inner world of a young woman who, in a context marked by exclusion, sought to preserve her daily life, entrusting her thoughts, doubts, and hopes to her diary.
\nPreserved at the Istoreto in Turin, these documents bear witness not only to personal events and stories, but also to the atmosphere of an era that risks fading in collective memory. The edition, edited by Victoria Musiolek<\/strong>, is part of the Fondazione 1563<\/em>‘s digital project Le Vite, dedicated to reconstructing biographies through archival sources.
\nThe meeting featured speakers Alberto Cavaglion<\/strong>, Dario Disegni<\/strong>, Laura Fornara<\/strong>, and Victoria Musiolek<\/strong>; the presentation was accompanied by readings from Mila Momigliano’s diary.<\/p>\n<\/div>
