On Friday, April 17, 2026, a ceremony was held in Turin to name a garden dedicated to Giuliana Fiorentino Tedeschi, a central figure in the memory of the deportation and the author of seminal works.
\nThe ceremony opened with greetings from Alberto Re<\/strong>, President of District 4, followed by a speech by Dario Disegni<\/strong>, President of the Jewish Community of Turin. Simone Santoro<\/strong>, the writer’s great-grandson, then gave his testimony.
\nSpeakers included Maria Ludovica Chiambretto<\/strong> of the Jewish Christian Friendship Association, who read a letter from Luisa Ricaldone<\/strong>, the Italian Society of Women Writers’ Representative for the municipal toponymy commission and a former student of Giuliana Fiorentino Tedeschi, and Ludovica Cioria<\/strong>, Vice President of the Turin City Council.
\nFollowing the speeches, the plaque for the new garden was unveiled. The wind orchestra of the Liceo Classico Musicale Cavour performed the national anthem.
\nAfter the official ceremony, several students from Berti High School stopped in the square to read excerpts from Giuliana Fiorentino Tedeschi’s writings, “Da questo povero corpo” and “C’\u00e8 un punto della terra,” paying homage to her voice and testimony. <\/p>\n
