After five years, the #ItaliaEbraica<\/strong> project is being renewed and becomes Jewish Italy in the World<\/strong>.
\nEach month, we will explore a new museum and discover the paths that connect distant places with our “Jewish Italy.”
\nInternational Jewish museums will present an object or artwork from their collections online via Zoom that tells a story of Italy’s history.
\nThe sixth online event will be held on Zoom on Thursday, April 16, at 6:30 p.m.<\/strong> (Italian time) and will be dedicated to the Jewish Museum of Greece (JMG)<\/strong>. As part of the event, a rare illustrated manuscript from Venice<\/strong>, now part of the JMG’s Historical Collection, acquired in 1994, will be presented.
\nThe manuscript, dated between 1642 and 1724, is not only of considerable artistic value, but also of great historical value: it demonstrates the Venetian authorities’ attitude toward the petition presented by the Jewish Community of Corfu for protection from vandalism<\/strong>.
\nThe manuscript consists of 44 pages and contains coats of arms, full-page miniatures and a depiction of Moses holding the Tablets of the Law<\/strong> (verso). <\/p>\n
