Jewish Italy celebrates salvation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"183\" data-end=\"475\">On <strong data-start=\"186\" data-end=\"203\">May 7, 2026<\/strong>, the <strong data-start=\"215\" data-end=\"243\">Jewish Museum of Bologna<\/strong> will host a study day dedicated to the theme of <em data-start=\"297\" data-end=\"310\">Purim Sheni<\/em>, the minor holidays established throughout history to celebrate salvation from dramatic events that threatened the lives of Jewish communities in Italy.<br \/>\nThe meeting was conceived with the aim of investigating, for the first time in a comprehensive way, the origins, historical circumstances, and rites associated with these celebrations, offering an in-depth look at a little-known tradition of great cultural and identity value.<br \/>\nThe day will begin at 9:30 a.m. with a welcome for participants, followed by official greetings from <strong data-start=\"893\" data-end=\"915\">Amedeo Spagnoletto<\/strong>, Director of the National Museum of Italian Judaism and the Shoah (MEIS), and <strong data-start=\"994\" data-end=\"1009\">Ivan Orsini<\/strong>, Director of the Jewish Museum of Bologna.<br \/>\nThe first panel, titled &#8220;<em data-start=\"1079\" data-end=\"1114\">Salvation and History \u2013 Purim Shen\u00ec<\/em>&#8221; and moderated by <strong data-start=\"1129\" data-end=\"1150\">Alberto Cavaglion<\/strong>, will feature contributions from scholars and experts who will delve into various historical cases: <strong>Serena Di Nepi <\/strong>will analyze the so-called &#8220;Purim of Lead&#8221; in modern Rome, <strong>Gianfranco Di Segni<\/strong> will offer a general overview of the meaning of Purim Shen\u00ec, while <strong>Amedeo Spagnoletto <\/strong>and <strong>Adolfo Locci <\/strong>will present examples from Pitigliano and Padua, respectively.<br \/>\nAfter a time for discussion and Q&#038;A, the day will continue in the afternoon with a second session, &#8220;<em data-start=\"1630\" data-end=\"1682\">The Earth Rebels. Tremors, Fires, and Floods,<\/em>&#8221; moderated by <strong data-start=\"1696\" data-end=\"1719\">Gabriele Fiorentino<\/strong>.
