In the heart of Jerusalem lies an old apartment building, nicknamed “the train of fools.” Families marked by war and migration have lived here, restless characters and guardians of secrets that no one has ever truly forgotten. Here, above all, the past continues to resurface, insinuating itself into the lives of its residents in new and unexpected ways. This is what happens when the fates of two women collide: retired inspector Nili Carmon, assigned to investigate the death of a patient that occurred twenty-four years earlier in a psychiatric hospital, and Sivan Navon, the victim’s daughter. From that moment, a past that seemed buried resurfaces: memories surface, silences are shattered, and the lives of the building’s residents once again become intertwined around that event.
From unbreakable bonds to undying loves, Wherever Is Home tells the story of a group of friends and a mystery to be solved. A powerful novel written by many voices that shows how thin the line is between lies and truth, condemnation and forgiveness, and above all reminds us that to find our place in the world, sometimes all it takes is to stop running away and have the courage to come home.

Ghila Piattelli‘s book presentation will be held at the Luxemburg bookshop in Turin.

The author will be present, coming to Italy from Israel for various events.

Ghila will be in conversation with Fabiana Magrì, a journalist for La Stampa who was a correspondent from Israel for several years.

The event poster is available.
