The event is organized by the National University Library of Turin in collaboration with the Gariwo Foundation.
The Garden of the Righteous of Humanity honors all those people who, through their choices, contribute to preserving the cultural and ethical heritage of humanity.
Among the first Righteous in our region to be honored was Ester Pastorello, the Director of the National Library who during the Second World War saved our library’s most precious works (above all, the autographed manuscripts of Antonio Vivaldi).
Furthermore, Noemi Gabrielli, Historical Inspector of Art of Piedmont and Liguria at the Royal Art Gallery of Turin, who during the same conflict committed herself to collecting and protecting the artistic treasures of the two regions.
Two women, two “monument women”, who with their studies, in their respective fields, influenced culture in the second half of the last century.
The Righteous for Cultural Heritage will be included in the Gariwo Foundation’s Encyclopedia of the Righteous, which can be consulted using the QR code next to the commemorative plaque by connecting directly to the Gariwo Foundation website.
The following will speak at the event
- Dr. Marzia Dina Pontone, Director of the National Library
- Dr. Martina Landi, Director of the Gariwo Foundation
- Dr. Dario Disegni, President of the Foundation for Jewish Cultural Heritage in Italy.
The event is open to everyone without the need for reservations.
