Are you ready to travel back in time and discover early 20th-century Jewish Italy?
Join us online on Zoom on Monday, April 27, at 6:30 PM (CET)/12:30 PM (ET): Sharon Reichel, co-curator with Valeria Rainoldi of the exhibition “Journey to Italy: Discovering Jewish Cultural Heritage,” will introduce us to the exhibition and reveal all its secrets.
Through an extraordinary collection of historical photographs, we will guide you on an online tour of the Jewish neighborhoods, synagogues, and cemeteries of cities such as Venice, Rome, Florence, Padua, and Mantua.
These evocative images come from two exceptional photographic collections of great cultural and historical value now on display at the MEIS: the Hungarian Ernő Munkácsi Collection, which documents Jewish life in Italy between 1927 and 1940, and the archive of F.A.C.E. – Federation of Jewish Cultural Associations. The event will be in English.
